Catalina State Park, Tucson AZ

Joe & Amy Hike on 4/29/2000

On 4/29/00 we headed off to Tucson for Catalina State Park for another hike. Once again it was a beautiful hot sunny day and we reached the trail and were ready to start at about 11:00am.  Just when it is getting good and hot! As usual Amy took the initiative to be the lead person on the hike so it was the normal FAST pace. And best of all it was an extremely quick uphill climb when we reached the trail. The picture here shows a view of the trail as we are heading quickly up the mountain.

As you can see from the picture here we were already a good distance up the mountain and we had just begun our trek  The picture was taken from on top of a huge rock that was on the side of the trail. Amy and I had taken a moment of rest on top of the rock. This picture was taken from the top of the first peak that we reached. It is a little hard to see from the picture but there was a stream running through the mountain side. When we got further into the hike we crossed the stream and there were different types of fish. Unfortunately we were a little disappointed because there was very little water since it had been so hot this time of year. Anyway we crossed the stream and continue our journey up the mountain.

The next two photos are the view of the inner mountain as we reached the peak of the first level of the mountain. At this point we could see that we had a nice big hike ahead of us.
