August 16-22, 2000

Mom and Dad came out to visit for a week.  Steven was planning on coming but backed out at the last minute because of work.  They arrived Wednesday (8/16/00) afternoon. 

Wednesday:

Our first stop was home to see the dogs. Of course they were excited as ever to see us. We spent most of the afternoon running errands (Amy got a new car battery, we did some grocery shopping for the weekend, etc). Friday night we took Mom and Dad out to eat at Macaroni Grill. We all had a great Italian dinner.

Thursday:

Happy Birthday Mom! Well, maybe it wasn't such a great day... unfortunately Mom and Dad spent most of it sleeping. They both were a little sick. We were originally planning on going tubing so that was postponed till later in the weekend. We stayed home that night and watch "The Green Mile".

Friday:

Dad and Joe got up early and headed off to the Estrella Mountain Ranch Golf course with Chris Smith to play a round before it got too hot. While they were gone, Mom and Amy went birthday shopping for Mom. It was amazing... Mom couldn't find anything she needed in the entire store. She ended up getting a case for her new cell phone later that day. Friday night we were able to go out for Mom's birthday dinner. She chose Primos (an Italian restaurant right near our house). We all had a nice meal and had some sambucco for desert.

Saturday:

Dad still wasn't feeling the best so he stayed home with the dogs while Mom, Joe, and Amy went tubing down the Salt River. The water was extremely low and was moving very slow. I think there were times that we were not moving at all. Since it was a weekend, there were a lot of people there. It was crowded but we all still enjoyed relaxing on the water for a few hours. It took us 3 1/2 hours to get from point 1 to point 2. Mom and Dad took us out to Uptown Brewery for dinner that night. Thanks Mom and Dad!

Sunday:

We packed up all our things and all the dogs and headed to Tucson to drive up Mt. Lemon. Part way up the mountain we stopped at Rose Canyon Lake camp grounds to have a picnic lunch and walk around the lake. Then we finished the drive up to the summit where we attempted to take a nice hike. Click here to see pictures of the trip. We didn't get home till kind of late that night so we stayed home and relaxed a little.

Monday:

Some of us had to go back to work while others decided to play another round of golf. Dad, Joe, and Chris Smith went to Dinosaur Mountain that morning. Amy took a LONG lunch to spend some time with Mom while the boys were out golfing. At 1:00 Amy and Joe went to work and Mom and Dad went to Rigatony's for lunch. That night we stayed home and cooked some burgers on the grill. Sarah was out to a Diamondback's game so she didn't get home till about 10:00.

Tuesday:

Amy and Joe went to work while Mom and Dad went to Saguaro National Park and Saguaro Desert Museum. We picked Joey up from class at 7:39 that night and all went out to Chili's for dinner (thanks to Intel!).

That was the end of our trip! Can't wait to do it again!!!
