Day 2-6: Long Caye Island at Glover's Reef

We left for Long Caye Island on Saturday, April 13, first thing in the morning.  It was about a 3 hour boat ride.  When we arrived we unloaded all our luggage and food for the week, then Lord Jim (the dive shop owner) took us all on a tour of the place.  He showed us where some of the cabanas were rebuilt due to Hurricane Mitch and how some of the island was now under water.  He also introduced us to the staff: Elmo - guide, John - guide, Leticia - cook, Aurora - cook, Apolitico - grounds keeper (and don't forget Lucky the rabbit a).

DOCK_ARRIVAL.JPG (56667 bytes)The island was beautiful.  There were several palapas for the water sport equipment, a palapa for the kitchen, a volleyball court just outside the kitchen for evening matches, and 10 cabanas for guests (although only 9 are still standing - there is no number 8).  We spent Sunday through Tuesday snorkeling, diving, kayaking, wind surfing, kayak surfing, and kayak rolling.... what a tough life! J  We had beautiful weather the entire time and everyone had a great time.
