We all went to NY for a week to visit with all of Joe's family.  Amy's mom came into town to watch the dogs for us.  She got in on July 4th just in time for our 4th of July party.  Joe, Darin, and Gary went a little overboard with the fireworks this year... but it was a good show and we amazingly didn't get into trouble.  And the neighbors all got to enjoy a good show.

We left for NY on Tuesday, July 6th, at 12:45pm.  We had one fairly short layover in Detroit and got there pretty much on time.  Joey was a little nervous on the first flight but he enjoyed looking out the window when we took off and landed.  We arrived in Hartford, CN around 10:30pm (Eastern time) and got our rental car without any difficulty.  We loaded up and started on our way to Albany where we had a hotel for the week.  It turned out to be only a 2 hour trip and we got to the hotel around 1:30am.

The next day we went over to Nana's apartment to visit and then we all went out to lunch together to Chili's.  We tried to go to Pip's but they were closed for cleaning.  On the way home we stopped at an aquarium to look at fish.  Around 5 we headed over to Grandpa's house (Joe's dad).  We were greeted at the door by Grandpa in nothing but a towel !!  Tony brought Jenna over and we all had a delicious pasta dinner.  Jenna was a little shy around us at the beginning but soon opened up and played with all of us.

The next day (Thursday) we went over to Joe's mom and John's house.  We had a nice visit.  We played with "crazy" Sadie and tired her out.  Sarah was throwing the rope to Sadie and accidentally threw it on the roof.  That night we all went down to the water and had dinner at a restaurant right on the water and ate out on the deck.

Friday we all packed up and went out to Grafton Park for a picnic.  It was a fairly cool morning and we were all hoping the weather would improve so we could go swimming.... well... we went swimming - but the weather never did improve.  It was freezing!!!  But it didn't rain so we just bundled up and enjoyed our picnic anyways.  We cooked up some burgers and dogs for lunch, went for a hike, and yes- some of the more crazy people went for a swim.  The beach was empty - they were the almost the only people in the water... you'd think that would tell you something.

Saturday we all went to The Great Escape Six Flags Amusement Park.  We had beautiful weather and were able to enjoy some of the water rides.  Joey liked the first couple roller coasters but I think we went overboard... we took him on one too many rides.  He went on a short roller coaster twice - it went upside down but was only 30 seconds long - and he liked that one.  But then we took him on a big one that went upside down and backwards and that was the last ride of the day for Joey.  We are still not allowed to say the word "ride" in front of him.  Sarah learned that she liked roller coasters and went on 4 of them!  After spending 7 hours at the park, we drove up to Lake George where we walked around the park and had some dinner at a place right on the water.

Sunday was the big badminton tournament over at Aunt Mare's house.  We had a great BBQ for lunch and then Sarah and Aunt Mare concocted a badminton (who would known that's how you spell it) net out of string and trees and the games were on!

Monday was our last day in NY.  Sarah spent it with her Grandma getting facials and watching movies.  And Joe, Amy, Joey, and Nana all took a nice drive out to Vermont.  It was a little cloudy but still a nice day for a ride.  When we got back, we stopped by Joe's dad's house to say goodbye to him, Tony, and Jenna.  Then we picked up Sarah on our way back to Hartford.  We stayed in Hartford that night so that we could catch our plane in the morning.
